Hello, I hope you are doing well!
This week, we're in for a celestial treat with a lineup of significant astrological events: Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde in Aries, Sun conjunct Saturn in Pisces, and a Full Moon in Virgo - Total Lunar Eclipse. These events, along with Mercury retrograde in Aries and the 6 of Pentacles, the Queen of Cups and the Knight of Cups, will guide us through this intense period.
6 of Pentacles
The 6 of Pentacles corresponds to the Moon in Taurus, an Earth sign like Virgo, the sign where the Full Moon and Eclipse occur. A Full Moon is a culminating energy that will give way to a decreased one (waning moon), and the eclipse close to the South Node highlights this attention to what we need to let go, transform, and change. Perhaps it indicates the end of a cycle in more pragmatic and material issues and themes (Earth sign), as I said in the March Astrology article “Ruled by Mercury in Aries and conjunct retrograde Venus, this Full Moon intensifies themes of communication, relationships, and pleasures, or reiterations of similar experiences previously lived, particularly between 2015-2017, the last cycle of eclipses Virgo/Pisces.”
The 6 of Pentacles, with a central figure facing the past, seems to do this reflective exercise and consider what is excessive for themselves and what could be helpful for other people. When discussing the end of cycles, letting go of what doesn’t help us doesn’t necessarily mean cutting off and altogether abandoning these issues. But, as Virgo, a mutable sign, teaches us, it can mean transformation, reconfiguration, or transfer. The 6 of Pentacles represents the need for that figure to transfer what they don’t need to whoever or what can benefit from their donation. This way, they can also transfer their focus towards the future (the eclipses that mark endings and beginnings), towards that scale that marks the possibility of a more equitable and balanced future. Or as the Portuguese singer António Variações says (my translation):
To Give and Receive…
It should be our way of living
To Give and Receive…
Make the exchange without winning or losing…
To Give the right to every voice
This Respect that we want for ourselves
Queen of Cups
The Queen of Cups, the queen of the receptivity that characterizes the element of Water, reminds us that this empathetic attitude does not take away our stability. On the contrary, caring for and nurturing our emotions and of those around us requires delicacy and vulnerability. Still, this queen helps us find a place of emotional maturity that allows us to act with security and confidence without leaving aside the sensitive reality that we live in and that surrounds us. This figure of power and security reminds me of the conjunction of Sun and Saturn in Pisces (a mutable water sign), which today becomes exact: “emotion that responds to responsibilities. Dreams with structure and creativity that obey limits. The weight of reality meets the vastness of the imagination. (...) Focus and resilience bring some concreteness to Piscerian abstraction, but the path can be slow and require patience.” Empathy (Pisces) that requires responsible personal expression (Sun) (Saturn): the solidarity of the 6 of Pentacles. Do you hear this siren’s song? “Hear me sing:
Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you.
Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you.
Knight of Cups
This Knight is the first character in this week’s story facing the future. But they are a Knight of Cups; no matter how much they dream of what will come, their phlegmatic quality keeps them attentive to the past, memory, and interiority. They are a romantic knight who carries messages from a past that they want to preserve in the present. Just like Hermes (the winged helmet), who transfigures into Mercury and remains retrograde in Aries (activity, dynamism, positioning for the future) at the end of the week. Due to its adaptability, Mercury gains the colors of Venus retrograde in Aries (the Queen of Cups?), whom they join later in the week. We may move forward with themes that will be more of a Venusian communication order. But, simultaneously, those same things can be subjected to delays and/or work unexpectedly or surprisingly. All of this is ruled by Mars (impulsiveness) in Cancer: a warrior in the watery domains, just like this Knight. Therefore, actions, however ambitious or well-intentioned, can become immersed in a haze of fantasy or dissolution of will.
→ This week will be painted in melancholy tones (Virgo is a sign of a melancholic temperament) and inspiration to move forward with our dreams in an optimistic and empathetic way. A desire for connection and communion (7 of Pentacles), inspired by echoes and emotions from the past to which we propose to dedicate ourselves seriously (Queen of Cups and Sun and Saturn Conjunction in Pisces), even if we have to say goodbye to habits, routines, and patterns that do not allow us to move in that direction (eclipse in Virgo). What is the “last string to sever”? What do we have to deal with to free ourselves from a march marked by illusion (Knight of Cups and Mercury retrograde)? So that, like Mercury, the god of crossings between different planes, we can begin a new emotional, spiritual, and/or creative path.
It’s questions like these that I hear in this song that I like so much:
Infinity stretches unlimitlessly
Countless days pass by immeasurably
Anniversaries gutter in the maelstrom
Whirling a snowstorm of lustrous millennium
We, we couldn't stay together
This couldn't last forever
Senses dissolve into soliloquies
Flooding ascent in synchronicity
Oh, but we, we couldn't stay together
I knew this wouldn't last forever
Forever, just one more time than never
This is the last string to sever
On and on
Oh, it goes on and on
I could stay, I could stay wherever
I would last, I would last forever
Forever, just one more time than never
This is the last string to sever
Forever, forever is never forever
Forever, forever, never forever
I have lost you forever and ever
